Ziziphus Spina-Christi (Christ’s Thorn)

Ziziphus spina-christi, commonly known as the Christ’s Thorn Jujube or Sidr Tree(Cedar tree), is a hardy, drought-tolerant tree valued for its dense foliage, edible fruit, and medicinal properties. Native to the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, it thrives in hot, arid climates, making it a crucial plant for shade, erosion control, and sustainable agriculture.

This small to medium-sized, thorny tree reaches heights of 6–12 meters (20–40 feet) and features glossy, dark green leaves that provide dense shade. During spring and summer, it produces small, fragrant, yellow-green flowers, followed by sweet, reddish-brown jujube fruits, which are nutritious and widely consumed fresh or dried.
