Delonix Regia

Delonix Regia, commonly known as the Royal Poinciana or flamboyant tree, is a species of flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae, native to Madagascar. It is noted for its stunning display of bright red or orange flowers and fern-like foliage. The Royal Poinciana is often planted in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide for its ornamental value. It typically blooms in late spring to early summer, creating a spectacular burst of color. In addition to its beauty, it also provides shade with its broad, spreading canopy.

Its large size and spreading canopy characterize it. Delonix Regia can reach heights of up to 12-15 meters (40-50 feet) with a canopy spread of 8-12 meters (25-40 feet) or more. The trunk of the tree is typically thick and gnarled, providing stability for its expansive canopy. The leaves are bipinnate, meaning they are divided into smaller leaflets, giving them a delicate and airy appearance. The tree also produces long, brown seed pods that hang from its branches after flowering. These characteristics contribute to the overall majestic appearance of the Royal Poinciana tree.
